Aloha! Lots of Photos!

We had a great time in Hawaii with the Steele Family.
We enjoyed lots of great things like...

...Eating the biggest Shave (no 'ed') Ice we have ever seen
We shared a giant pineapple strawberry banana flavored shave ice...and some wind.

...Seeing baby Sienna for only the 2nd time since she was born

...Fun and games at the Paradise Cove Luau
Brooks doing the spear throwing

Bonny getting a Polynesian tattoo

The manly Steele men and their manly arm tats

...Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay

...Boogie boarding at Kailua Beach

Brooks catching a great wave

Me, surprised that I managed to stay on the board as the wave carried me all the way to shore.

...Riding the Pineapple Express train at the Dole Pineapple Plantation Left: Dov - Right: Matan - Back: Tara, Baby Sienna, the rest of the fam

...Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor

...Buying great stuff at the swap meet at Aloha Stadium
(we bought: Hawaiian fabric squares, swimming dress, necklaces, photo book)

...Most of all we enjoyed some good quality time with our wonderful family!

We're Back!

Did you miss us? We're back from Hawaii!

I think it might be a couple of days before we can catch up with our blogging. I'm still confused about what time it is. I just want to sleep. Hawaii was great and we really enjoyed spending time with the Steeles.

Stay tuned for a post about Hawaii!

Papa Luigi & a Giant Hamburger

Brooks introduced me to a wonderful recipe from his childhood. Known as Papa Luigi Special, this delightful meal is his dad's version of something like chicken parmigiana (sp?). I have to admit, it is rather delicious! Here are some photos for your mouthwatering pleasure.

Here you see the mans portion on the left, my handsome cook in the middle, and the woman's portion on the right. Try it yourself! Take a breaded chicken patty, cook it in the oven. For the last baking minute add spaghetti sauce and moz cheese. Pair it up with your favorite pasta and bread!

Here is a rather hilarious photo. When our neighbors moved they left us with a few frozen items. This was one of them. Brooks was excited and cooked it up. Unfortunately the buns were a tad small.... I thought this was an incredibly funny sight!

We were recently hunting for a new collar for Zibby. A few weeks ago he got really excited outside and yanked his collar really hard. He was wearing one of those choke chains and it snapped one of the loops apart. On our search for a new collar we thought it would be appropriate if he wore a UGA themed collar. Unfortunately those collars are selling for 18 to 26 bucks! We ended up just going with plain red. Red is definitely his best color!

Speaking of Creepy!

Now that photo uploading is fixed....

There are some things about Georgia that I love and there are other things that really make me want to move back to Utah. Here are just a few
of the latter:

Bugs! Spiders! Roaches! Crawly Things!

These HARMLESS little caterpillers come out during the months of September and October. When I say they "come out" I mean that they are ALL OVER THE PLACE! You can barely walk around outside with out squashing one. Once they finally latch on to something and start making their cocoons they are less on the sidewalk and more on EVERYTHING ELSE! In the photo on the left it has latched itself on to the leg of my neighbor's porch rocker. The one on the right is latched on to the top doorway of the neighbor's play house. EW! They're harmless but I sure don't like them. Oh and I think the last time I saw a caterpillar was in like 2nd grade when it was cool to catch them in a jar with a stick. Do you remember doing that? Anyhow these spiney little guys actually turn into beautiful monarch butterflies.

Alright now here is the worst part.

To the right we have the Daddy Long Leg. What? You don't believe me? Right, because Daddy Long Leg spiders in Utah are not even half this size. This guy is perched on the neighbor's play house thing (yeah that little house has a bad reputation with bugs and I would never play in it if I were a kid). This spidey seriously is the size of the spread of my hand! See how long those legs are? GROSSSSSS! These spiders supposedly don't bite but I don't care, I still don't want it near me! Good thing my camera has zoom.

Alright....I know! EWWWWW!!! Yes this is two shots of the same spider just to give you an idea of the sheer gynormity of this spidey. Ew I'm shuddering while a type. He is perched up in the corner of the porch. You can judge the size by the bricks. The hairy beast built himself a little home up there! (don't worry, soon after this picture was taken he was exterminated with a generous dose of Raid and Windex). Check out the picture on the right. If you look closely you can see the camera flash reflecting off of its eyeballs! Bleh!

And if that wasn't enough for your eyes, here are a few more nasty spiders.....

Ew! I didn't actually see this one in real life. My neighbor found it and this photo is borrowed from her blog. I've never seen anything like this before and I never want to!

And this final nasty is two very different photos of the same spider. This thing is huge. Katie found it on her door (outside) right above the door knob. What placement! This sucker is just huge. Check out the shadow in that picture on the left. Oh man I want Utah back!

Story Time.....

So the other morning I decided to go for a brisk jog, and during my jog I think I almost got shot! Here is how it happened, I am running down the street, and off in the distance I see these two young African American individuals (a guy and girl) walking to high school. Well I am usually very cautious about running up behind people because I don't want to startle them. Wellllll..... the girl had turned around when I was about 40 feet away, I thought that was good enough, and I decided to forgo my usual sniffling and coughing so they can here me routine. So as I am passing them, on the guys side, he jumps back and starts to reach for his belt area! Now I am not saying he had a gun or anything, but should that really be your initial reaction! I apologized and kept running, and he kind of chuckled it off, and that is how I almost got shot.

Scaredy Crow?

This is a cool movie that I found on this blog. Made by psyop, check out their website for other really cool animations. (I also liked this one made for Coca-Cola.) There is something about crows that I think is spooky. Probably a result of watching The Birds as a kid. I've hated crows ever since although Counting Crows is one of my favorite bands of all time. Ugh, paired up with Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata...this animation is just weird. I like it.

hAppy hAlloween!

Today is a great day!

I can't believe it. We won the Design Mom random giveaway! Small Vendors really do rock! Actually, my husband Brooks won it (I'm so glad he entered) and he said I could have the stuff. What a sweetheart. Now that Design Mom has our name on her blog, I fear there will be lots of visitors here. Welcome everyone! This is our "family" blog, even though there are just two of us. I (Bonny) also keep a more crafty and creative blog called Quilt.Spot. I hope some Design Mom visitors might find their way there. I still can't believe that Brooks won the giveaway. My heart is pounding with excitement! Thanks Design Mom!

e-make over

My other blog got a make over today. It is more colorful and girly than I prefer but I am trying to branch out. I just have to put in a plug for it. I started it to keep track of my quilting and stuff but it has become a general location for creative moments and thoughts. It is more specific to me since Brooks won't let me post on creativity and design on this blog. I have some great posts coming up. Check it out!

Baby Carrots

Here are some great pictures of Olivia and Zibby. Olivia loves to feed Zibby baby carrots, one of his favorite treats! He is so good at listening to her "sit" and "shake" commands and when he does it right he gets a carrot. (In case you don't know Olivia, she is our next door neighbor and probably Zibby's best pal.)
Here is Olivia showing me the carrot and Zibby is waiting so patiently for her to give it to him. You can tell how bad he wants it....look how good he is being!

An action photo of the shake!

And here is the final product, Zibby chewing on his treat and Olivia waiting to give him another.
