not at all homeless

We finally found an apartment! Actually, I don't think "finally" applies because it only took us a few days (not long at all!). We are really happy with how everything turned out and hopefully we'll be moving next Saturday! Wanna know where we're going to live? I'm not telling on the blog but I will share this:

Last year, Robin did a wonderful post about her street. I was so envious, but my envy is over! We're living on one of the greatest streets in America too! I'm looking forward to: old building charm, saving gas by walking to work, hardwood floors, and getting the move over with. I am missing Zibby though. He won't be able to live with us until we find a more permanent situation.

Click here to see what other streets made the list.

not really homeless

Sorry for ignoring the blog. We made it to Salt Lake and we're doing great! My new job rocks so I'm happily busy all day at work. All our stuff is in storage and we are staying with my SIL until we find an apartment. She's great for letting us stay but I'm ready for our own place.

In the meantime, you should join us at United Way of Salt Lake and LIVE UNITED.

In Vail

The tornadoes didn't get us. Phew! I think I'd have been much more terrified had I not been half asleep at the time. B would have slept through the storm if I hadn't woke him up. Take a look at our truck. We probably used less than a quarter of the space in the truck. Pretty sweet packing job I'd say. Sorry for the butt shot Mr. Roadway! Z has been doing well on the drive. His journey goes something like this: curl up on the seat, stand up, turn in 10 circles, sit down, breathe is stanky breath in our faces, put is face in the left vent, put his face in the right vent, stand up, look out the window, sit down, shed all over the car....and all over again. After all that, I still like him. We're enjoying a nice night in Vail Colorado. We did over half the drive in the first day and we could have finished it all today but decided to take it easy. We'll get some good rest and have a short drive tomorrow.

Happy Memorial Day

Hi From Kansas

We spent 17 hours in the car yesterday...hello from Tornado country! SCARY! Last night we stayed at a crappy Econolodge in a "non-smoking room." The power went off and on all night and there were howling winds and thunder.

Thats it for now. Just wanted to say Hi from the road.

flexible spending spree

Today is my last day at my current job. Two days ago I found out that I had $400 in my flexible spending account that had to be spent while I am still on the payroll! Last night, I stocked up on contacts and ordered these:

a whale of a tale

As part of our extended graduation celebration weekend, we visited the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Our visit was much cooler than I anticipated it being. We took tons of pictures but of all of them this one is my favorite:Here are some more of our pictures. Sorry they're bad...no flash photography allowed!

We saw large fish:

weird fish:
fish that didn't look like fish at all:

eight-armed fish:
and we even found Nemo:

We enjoyed touching the sting rays and mini sharks in the touching pool too. This is a must see attraction in Atlanta. Why didn't I study marine biology...these fish are fascinating!

And how could I not include the video of one of the whales totally putting on a show for us:

congraduationlations Brooks!

Brooks graduated Friday, May 9th. CONGRATS!

first position

Today is the first Tuesday in 8 weeks that I will not be spending 45 wonderful minutes with these sweet ballerinas. I volunteered to teach ballet to 8-10 little girls from church. We danced on the beautiful hard wood floor of the Hancock's living room. The class lasted 8 weeks and I might have gotten more out of it than the little girls. They were so precious. I'm definitely going to miss them.

Dash in Nash

It's been a week since the marathon and I think Brooks has recovered nicely. At least he's walking normal now! We had a great time in Nashville with our friends Lane and Whitney.

Big races (marathons and 1/2 marathons) are really exciting to be a part of. There were over 34,000 participants the the marathon and 1/2 marathon that day! We arrived in Nashville the night before and visited the health expo to pick up the race packets. There were so many people there! Then we had a fun dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown and headed back to our hotel to get some sleep. Brooks, Lane, and Whitney (she ran the 1/2 marathon) had to get up at 4:00 am to catch a shuttle to the starting line. I was REALLY happy to not be running with them when the wake-up call came in. I slept 3 extra hours and then headed downtown catch the
finishers.
The 1/2 marathon had about 25,000 participants, and sadly, even though I was standing right there, I didn't notice Whitney cross the finish line. There were just too many people! Not long after she finished we headed over to the Marathon finish line to see Lane and Brooks. We stood on top of that cement planter for over an hour. It was so great to see them come across the finish line! Here's a great video of Brooks and Lane finishing. Whitney and I were screaming our heads off trying to get their attention while balancing on the planter.
