Dash in Nash

It's been a week since the marathon and I think Brooks has recovered nicely. At least he's walking normal now! We had a great time in Nashville with our friends Lane and Whitney.

Big races (marathons and 1/2 marathons) are really exciting to be a part of. There were over 34,000 participants the the marathon and 1/2 marathon that day! We arrived in Nashville the night before and visited the health expo to pick up the race packets. There were so many people there! Then we had a fun dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown and headed back to our hotel to get some sleep. Brooks, Lane, and Whitney (she ran the 1/2 marathon) had to get up at 4:00 am to catch a shuttle to the starting line. I was REALLY happy to not be running with them when the wake-up call came in. I slept 3 extra hours and then headed downtown catch the
finishers.
The 1/2 marathon had about 25,000 participants, and sadly, even though I was standing right there, I didn't notice Whitney cross the finish line. There were just too many people! Not long after she finished we headed over to the Marathon finish line to see Lane and Brooks. We stood on top of that cement planter for over an hour. It was so great to see them come across the finish line! Here's a great video of Brooks and Lane finishing. Whitney and I were screaming our heads off trying to get their attention while balancing on the planter.

Congrats Brooks! I saw the news coverage of the SLC marathon last weekend and I kind of missed the whole event excitement. Maybe I will goal next years marathon for myself. maybe.

How exciting! Remember when three of you were all training for marathons? That was a crazy time at our house.

YAY!! Looks like fun. You have inspired us to get out of town for a day or two. It looked like fun to be able to get away for the weekend!

I don't think you could pay me a million dollars to run a marathon. Well actually, MAYBE...if it were a million. Anyway, good job Brooks!
